Colors and their Emotional Effect

Interior design is an art that combines a person’s personality with their preferences, to create a significant representation of their inner self. Therefore, colors play a significant role when it comes to decorating a space. We may not realise it, but our surroundings are unconsciously affect us. Color psychology is a cornerstone element of interior design for aesthetic purposes, but also to fully optimize each space based on the feelings and emotions each color invokes.

Colors do not necessarily translate to paint on the walls. They can be displayed using different materials and textures. Important thing to remember is that the variations of the color can look different depending on the lights used in the room.

When choosing a color you have to first think what exactly is the main activity going on in this and that space.
Different colors evoke different emotions.

Let’s see some of them:

BLUE

Blues are always calming, relaxing, and healing. Blues are for quiet and soothing spaces.
Deep, bold hues, such as navy are great for evoking confidence and admirable qualities such as loyalty, trust, peace and success.
Lighter shades of the color instil a feeling of calm and tranquility at home.
Shades of blue and especially indigo work in prayer rooms, meditative spaces, and bathrooms where you want to relax.

GREEN

Green has a balancing power. It also provides this sense of healing and balance due to its direct connection to nature.
When you’re using green in your home decor, you can use a lot or a little. It really depends on the other greens you bring into the room and how much of a statement you’d like to make.

RED

The most intense color, RED raises a room’s energy level and pumps the adrenaline.  Ambition, action and willpower are all qualities attributed to this color.
