Every interior design project starts with a mood board.
A moodboard is a visual tool that communicates our concepts and visual ideas. It is a well thought out and planned arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc. that is intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept.
Creating mood boards allows you to collect thoughts, ideas, color schemes and moods in one place and define a coherent design concept.

In this article we focus on the creation of an eye-catching material moodboard. But first what exactly a material moodboard is?
The board may contain samples of; furniture and upholstery fabrics, woods, tiles, metals, stones and wall coverings that communicate the look and feel of the design concept, before it is made a reality.

Here I leave you some easy tips to prepare a powerful board:

1. Pick a key piece to focus on and and try shooting around this key piece.
2. Add greenery. Nothing make a board more vivid than a piece of greenery.
3. Use complementary colors. The most popular boards tend to have similar tones. The materials don’t need to be the same color, you better use complementary colors.
4. Add materials that have depth. Utilising multiple textures gives the board life and prevents it from looking flat.
5. Change the angle you’re taking the photo from.
