Terrazzo is a popular flooring choice. Not only because of it’s durable and high-resistant but also because it is easy to clean. By following the maintenance tips outlined belowyou can extend the life and beauty of your floor

First cleaning

It is important to note that when a terrazzo floor is first laid, it will take time for the cement to cure. During that period, which can last several days or weeks, the floor may change color or have a mottled appearance.

After laying, it is always advisable to protect the floor with suitable foils. Avoid colored writing boards, newspaper sheets because they could transfer foreign substances to the floor, not to mention adhesive tape applied directly to the tiles.

Terrazzo flooring requires regular care and maintenance with specific products to maintain its finish. Always test cleaners in an inconspicuous area to determine outcome. Never use acidic or alkaline cleaning agents for cleaning, as this can damage the gloss of the tiles. Always use neutral cleaning agents that are easy to find on the market.

First wash with a neutral detergent diluted in water in a ratio of 1:10 (increase the concentration for stubborn dirt). Rinse with plenty of water and let dry. Working with a single brush, equipped with a liquid sucker, makes the job easier.

For normal surface cleaning without wax equipment, wash with neutral detergent (diluted in water); often rinse the cloth in the detergent solution and wring it out well. To clean surfaces with a wax surface, wash with a neutral detergent (do not use hot water). To restore the brilliance of the tiles, wash them regularly with a solution of the end wax used, which was first diluted in water (2 glasses of wax in a bucket of water).
Every cleaning and care product is easy to find on the market. Contemporary terrazzo flooring by Masetti Design Selection, such as marble and granite, can be polished over time.

In high risk environments such as bars, delis and restaurants a very protective treatment is recommended. The floor must be washed with degreasing detergent (diluted 1:10 with water). If the surface is clean and dry, apply an oil- or water-repellent, dirt-repellent product with a natural effect (e.g. protection FILA MP90). As an alternative, it is possible to apply a layer of final wax with a brush, cloth or a suitable applicator.

These protection tips, along with regular sweeping and mopping, will sustain the beauty of your tile and add lasting brilliance to your home décor.
